Faux Fur : Buy or Not?

Posted on November 01 2017

For people who want the look of real fur, faux fur can get a great alternative for real fur. It’s important to note, that major retailers have been found selling real fur that was mislabeled as faux. Of course, if you ever have any doubts about whether an item contains real or faux fur, the best choice is to avoid it altogether. I think that our each dollar is one of the most powerful tools I have to influence social change. By buying faux fur sends the message that there is a market for that particular product, and buying it may encourage designers to incorporate faux—rather than real—fur into their collections. In recent years, demand for faux fur has increased, as consumers are becoming more conscious about where their clothes come from and how they are made. This has left manufacturers scrambling to meet high demands and thus resulting in the mislabeling of products. Most embellishments are made from faux fur - synthetic fibres designed to look and feel like animal fur - and sold as such.
But the "tragically cheap" cost of real fur means that is not always the case and people who think they are wearing fake fur may not be.
Some shoppers however, cite ethical reasons for not buying it. Please, before buying faux fur, make sure its really faux. It's no one answer that you should or shouldn't buy faux fur, just because sometimes retailers can lie. So the best solution would be to buy from trust worthy brands, who have good reputation and positive feedbacks from previous customers.
